Rising above the coastal town of Puri, the Shri Jagannath Temple is one of Hinduism's four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Dating to the 12th century, it enshrines Lord Jagannath alongside his siblings Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, drawing millions of devotees each year.

The temple is world-famous for the majestic Ratha Yatra, when the deities are drawn through Puri's streets on towering hand-pulled chariots. Beyond the festival, the temple is renowned for its Mahaprasad — sacred food cooked in earthen pots and shared at the bustling Anand Bazaar.
